YA Book Club Meeting #1: The Hate U Give by Angie Thomas and Announcement of Next Month’s Selection

Hello everyone! Today is the day! We’re here to discuss the novel The Hate U Give by Angie Thomas. I made an introduction video. Which is my first video ever so don’t judge me too harshly. I’m still trying to work out the best way to handle the discussion but for now we will being using the comments below. Discussion is open now and will/can continue for as long as people want to talk about this book.

ALSO….

Next month’s book will be Thirteen Reasons Why by Jay Asher.

ThirteenReasonsWhy

I debated doing this book. There’s been a lot of discussion about it lately because of the Netflix television show of the same name but the show and the book are separate entities and even if you’re familiar with the story the book is still worth reading. It should be readily available at your public library, any bookstore, or digitally on Overdrive or any other platform your library may use (it’s not on Hoopla but both Hoopla and Overdrive are wonderful resources – look them up if you aren’t familiar and check with your library for platforms I’m unfamiliar with). Audio is also an option. The book is available on audio on Overdrive and Audible as well. Happy reading!

  1. Hi everyone! Comments can go here. In the book club I go to at my public library the moderators always ask a question that has something to do with the book, but also not, if that makes any sense. I like the idea so the question I have for everyone is: Do you have any friends from your past that you’ve lost touch with but wish you hadn’t?
